Feats of Engineering in Buenos Aires

June 10, 2010

I wish I had a camera to show what actually happened. Lourdes and I had bought a couch (yay!) that turned out to be too big for the elevator and too big to walk up the stairs. So the moving guys called their “rig” guys. They don’t even do this work.

There is a specialty company (several actually) that will strap your piece of furniture, and hoist it up the front or back of the building via crane. They did this with our couch, via our neighbor’s balcony, from the street, up 11 floors. No paperwork, no cones, no liability insurance.

Wow. This is certainly something that you only see in Argentina.
